Sony Ericsson Satio can play playstation games!

http://www.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/sony_ericsson_satio_official_12.jpg

SINGAPORE – A top global mobile industry player on Wednesday announced its top end entertainment unlimited handset bundled with more advanced technology and more diverse content.

Sony Ericsson formally introduced the “Satio” to members of the press from Asia Pacific during its media launch held at the Red Dot Museum last Wednesday.

“The top end entertainment Satio is 12.1 megapixel camera and then 3.5 inch, HD full touch display,” said Hirokazu Ishizuka, Sony Ericsson’s Corporate Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific Region.

First introduced as “Idou” in Barcelona , the Satio promises its users ultimate multimedia experience.

Ishizuka said that the company is confident with Satio’s success against its competitors in the industry.

“I think we are very confident of our own solution–entertainment unlimited. Not only music entertainment experience [but] also imaging, cyber-shot technology and we have a 12.1 megapixels camera. On top of that, you can enjoy your PlayStation games so therefore this product is so powerful and we are very confident [of] this product’s success,” he said during the press conference.

Busy people who missed out on their favorite hit movies or television series can watch these anytime and anywhere with the use of their Satio phone.

“Currently, we offer blockbuster movies, music videos and games. Basically, we have the option for the consumers to choose from a library to download three free of charge,” Ishizuka said.

Peter Ang, Sony Ericsson’s Vice President, Marketing Asia Pacific Region said that the Satio can get access to the internet through WIFI and 3G network.

“You can access to the internet very easily just one click and you can get into that,” he said.

Ang added that Satio will be made available in the early part of the fourth quarter in the home region.

Sony Ericsson Product Planner Maiko Ishida said that experiences and lessons learned from consumers’ feedback from the walkman and cyber-shot phones have been combined into the Satio.

“We have gathered all of the entertainment unlimited experiences that we have gained from the past cyber-shot phone. So, face detection, yes it’s there. Smile detector and the panorama, Bestpic, its all there. Everything that we have gained from the previous cyber-shot is in here,” said Ishida.

Ishida demonstrated to the press some of the features of the touchscreen phone. She also showed photos she personally took using her 12.1 megapixel Satio.

“So we have worked very closely [with Sony] to get the quality of the pictures. We also have this Xenon flash which allows you to take very bright pictures,” she said.

The Satio, she said, is based on an open platform, Symbian, allowing its users “great freedom to download zillions of applications”.

Satio is also the first Sony Ericsson phone to offer ninth High Definition (nHD) gaming that gives its users the best in mobile High Definition TV.

The Satio phone which will be available in three colors—black, silver and Bordeaux –also comes bundled with an expandable 8-gig card to store more movies.

The Satio also comes with the popular Asphalt Road and Prince of Persia games available in nHD format; a choice of three movie titles from a selection of more than 50 blockbuster movies; and a pick of three music videos from a library of up to 300.

The extensive content library of downloadable games, movies, music videos and latest tracks are exclusive for Asia Pacific consumers only.

Finally! I’ve made up my mind! (Not Really!)

O-kay. This is starting to read like a personal “thinking-out-loud” diary of mine. Anyway, as we all know, everyone is facing financial difficulties because of the current crisis. With that in hand, consumers are thinking not twice but more than thrice on the things they are spending on.

In a forecast here in the Philippines, Labor Secretary Roque estimated that around 300,000 people might lose their jobs. That is not a small number as this would have a domino effect in the country.

Anyway, going back to my main purpose in writing this, I was again, pondering last night on why I wanted to buy an iPhone. If you’ve read my previous blog about it, you can see that my direction is towards the iPhone. Now, it’s going away from it. An iPhone costs 30,000 pesos and it is equivalent to 3 months salary (average) of the people here in the Philippines.

I wanted the iPhone because I don’t want to lug around a lot of gadgets. The problem is, I am not excited about the idea that I have to use my finger to send SMS. It’s pretty difficult. It’s not like I am a text addict but, I wanted to spend something that won’t make my life harder. I know you get what I mean.

So, what would a movie addict want to buy then? It narrows down to:
1. Apple iPod Touch
http://i6.tinypic.com/4tf9u9k.jpg
2. Apple iPod Nano
http://www.megaleecher.net/uploads/ipod-nano-chromatic.png
3. Apple iPod Video
http://ubageek.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/ipod-video.jpg
4. Microsoft Zune
http://www.reviewzine.com/images/mp3player/microsoft-zune.jpg
5. Archos
http://www.letsgodigital.org/images/artikelen/235/archos_604_video_player_zoom.jpg

So much for narrowing it down but at least, they are all personal media players (PMP).

Here are the top things to consider when purchasing a PMP:
1. Battery Life
What would a PMP be used for if it can only play 3 hours of movie? That’s pretty useless!

2. User-friendliness
One thing I hate about iPod products is the hassle of converting videos for it to be played and the use of iTunes to add music to the library. For iPod users, try YAMWIN. It’s a program for iPod’s so you can easuly drag and drop music files to it.

3. Size
No further explanation needed. That is what the first P in PMP stands for — Portable!

Now, after buying a PMP, I need to decide which mobile phone I will buy.

***I sold ALL my old phones to help raise funds for my new gadgets. What I am using now is my trusty ol’ Sony Ericsson p910i and Nokia 6300. Both works flawlessly unlike my M600i and P990i –those 2 are crappy phones!

Thinking Out Loud- What to get? iPhone? Xperia X1? e90?

Gadgets, gadgets and more gadgets!!! Welcome to the fast-paced advancing era of the world!

I’ve read tons of reviews and comparative analysis notes and I still cannot clearly decide on what to get.

Here is my dilemma, I really want to get the iPhone but the problem is, it will be hard to text while driving (duh! of course, it’s both illegal and dangerous!) So, removing that fact, it complicated my decisions more. I went into the price factor.

http://www.letsgodigital.org/images/artikelen/13/xperia-x1-sony-ericsson.jpg
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

I can currently get the Xperia at 31,000 pesos or an iPhone 3g at around the same price. The Nokia e90 is cheaper at 30k below pesos. So, price-wise, you still can’t have a deciding factor. Last night, I thought that, maybe if I ponder on what I really need, I will find the solution.

Well, here is the scenario. I want to have a gadget wherein I can watch movies– that’s it. But again, this will bring me back to my old problem. I don’t want to purchase an iPod Touch because it’s pretty useless. I would rather get an iPhone and this brings me back to my problem again. Which phone to get. This is a never ending problem.

http://news.cnet.com/i/bto/20080711/IMG_0156_540x405.JPG
iPhone 3g white / iPhone 3g black

I currently have a phone and I am not the kind of person who loves to carry around a lot of gadgets. Well, if you think of it that way, it seems that an iPhone is the perfect one for me. I’ve got another problem though. iPhone’s battery life span is short. I’ve decided on that factor already. I will purchase an iPhone and use it as my secondary phone for my secondary sim card — business use.

Another but, how about the Xperia x1? They say it’s better than the iPhone. Although it has smaller screen size, it has a keyboard.

Nokia e90 communicator

See my problem? If you can’t find any Nokia e90 in ny “thinking out loud” blog, it is because I have excluded it already.

This end my thinking out loud. You can help me decide by commenting below. ALL your feedbacks and comments will truly help my decision making in my not so rare problem — where to spend 30,000 pesos of your hard earned money.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 - Finally here!

I’ve always loved Sony Ericsson mobile phones as you can read it in my previous blogs. This new phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is another must have very smart phone! I’ve been collecting (not literally) P series but wasn’t able to buy the P1i already because I have a M600i (A bit similar but I know that the P1i is waay lot better. It’s even better than my P990i!)

I’ve come across with this article of Xperia X1 and it makes me need it more. I know feel that it is more of a need than a want!!

Article below from Yehey Gadgets.

Gearheads and the average consumer who have resisted the allure of the trophy wife of smartphones, but are in the market for a phone with a similar lust factor, plus loads more power, might have become believers again in the existence of Santa Claus. In fact, they might even tell you that the jolly old man in the funny red suit is coming a couple of weeks earlier than Christmas Eve—November 28 to be exact, which is when one of the most wildly anticipated mobile phones hits local stores, just in time to pump up the holiday cheer. That phone would be the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, the company’s first foray into the Windows Mobile world that was first unveiled in February at the 2008 Mobile World Congress in Catalonia, Spain. The reveal promptly elicited gasps of unbridled glee from among those in attendance, and thereafter came a slew of blogs that kept tabs of its inexorable march to market release.

Sony Ericsson G502 - reliable mid-range phone

The image “http://i.gsmarena.com/vv/newsimg/08/04/se-g502-z780/gsmarena_001.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Sony Ericsson G502 is almost identical to Sony Ericsson K660, at first glance at least. A closer look at the specs of both models reveals that the G502 has shed down a few features. Not really important ones, that is, so it might be well worth it. There’s nothing wrong with saving yourselves a few bucks.

Plus, we do happen to like the G502 design a bit better than the K660. We are still curious however, if it will be able to deliver the same performance as its K-series altern

This last quarter, we have more choices of mobile phones. Sony Ericsson now offers new models like the touchscreen G700, its first 5 megapixel C902 and the HSDPA enabled G502. I recently got the G502 as my latest 3G phone.  I’m currently using it to connect my laptop to the internet and frankly, I’m satisfied with it.

The G502 was announced sometime in April and was made available by the 2nd Quarter. Initially, this phone was codenamed Emelie and is now packaged as Sony Ericsson’s fast internet-enabled phone. Local SE branches are now carrying this model as one of their latest handsets on showcase during consumer electronics sales.

Reliable mid-range

Form factor wise, the G502 is simple. It’s a candybar phone that fits snugly in the palm and easy to use even with single-handed operation. This phone measures 109 x 46 x 13.5 mm and weighs only 83 grams.

Even though the design is simple, it’s still attractive with the smooth and glossy exterior finish complete with a silver band accent.

The form and design of the phone’s keypad is different than other Sony Ericsson phones. This soft touch keypad is small but it’s easy to use. The spacing between the keys is just right and the entire keypad is a bit elevated so users won’t have any problems pressing the wrong key.

The control keys are located around the button called the D-pad. The six control keys are for menu, clear and the up, down, left, right functions. These directional keys can be customized for menu shortcuts like messaging, calendar, contacts and active menu.

This handset’s phonebook can hold many contact entries including multiple numbers and more detailed PIM information like email, website and others.

The only problem I have with the exterior design is the silver paint on the call/end call key strips off easily. To my dismay, it started to wear off after a weeks of use. I’m still looking for a secondary casing for this phone.

The only redeeming value on the phone’s exterior feature is the large, smooth front panel made of opaque plastic.

The 2-inch transflective screen display supports up to 262,000 colors, making the screen clear and bright for browsing the internet or viewing emails. Even though the screen is not that big, viewing it won’t strain your eyes. Photos and videos also look good on the screen.

This mid-range phone is equipped with all the multimedia goodies. It has a 2MP camera with up to 4 times digital zoom that takes good photos in well-lit environments. The video function is decent too.

Onboard, it has 32MB memory and has a slot for Memory Stick Micro card expandable up to 8GB according to Sony Ericsson. The memory stick slot is hidden behind the back cover. It complements the phone’s sleek design but it will be inconvenient because you will have to take off the cover to access the card.

Like other Sony Ericsson phones, there’s a dedicated media button that provides easy access to music files, photos and videos. The media user interface is similar to that of other new models.

The music player on the G502 is the same as that onboard Sony’s Walkman phones. It supports Bluetooth A2DP so pairing it with Bluetooth enabled headsets or external speakers is easy.

The sound quality is impressive with the Mega Bass function. It plays music and recorded audio files loud and clear even without any enhancement. The output audio from the phone’s voice recorder is in .amr format that can be played using Quicktime Player.

To get an iPod Nano or what? I don’t know!

http://images.appleinsider.com/timecapsule1unbox-1.jpg
Okay, after craving for a time capsule (1TB) from Apple, I am now craving for an iPod. I never had actually owned one before. I only borrow from my friends. I’m such a loser in that department!

Now, hating all the CD’s in my car with uh, an I don’t know, 6-disc ghetto cd changer, I am now looking forward for a MP3 library in my ride.

Anyway, I am having trouble deciding on what to buy.

Should I get this pretty attractive newly released iPod Nano 4th gen chromatic?
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/3958/nanoyb3.jpg

or an iPod touch because of the convenience of watching in a bigger screen with Wi-Fi?
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/1016/touchyu2.jpg

or an iPhone -complete package with videos/mp3s/ phone in one?
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5929/iphonesg2.jpg

You may ask me, what do I really need. Here is the Scenario. I have the following portable gadgets right now:
Sony Ericsson P990i (personal use) and Sony Ericsson P910i (internet browsing)
The image “http://www.mobiletracker.net/live-reports/ces-2006/sony-ericsson-p990i/photos/full/p990i-3.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Sony Ericsson M600i (collecting dust in the cabinet)

iPod Mini green 4gb(Not mine, borrowed from someone who doesn’t use it anymore)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0f/Green_iPod_mini-2007-02-12.jpg

and a Nokia 6300 (for business use)
The image “http://handcellphone.com/wp-content/themes/green-marinee/phonepic/Nokia-6300-cell-phone-beijing-show-2.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

I cannot sell all of those except for the Sony Ericsson M600i. The others was either given to me or subsidized (I paid a percentage. something like 50/50)

Now, the ulitmate question still remains unanswered. What gadget do you recommend for me to buy? This will be my first Apple product purchase if ever.

Mobile Phone with 8.1 Megapixel camera

Sony Ericsson is the first one to break through the 5 mp camera phone barrier.

Click the image to know more about the Sony Ericsson C905

Some of the features found in most high-end Cybershot digital cameras were embedded in the C905. It has Xenon flash, face detection, auto-focus, smart contrast, red eye reduction and image stabilizer. It has digital zoom up to 16 times, better than the current up to 12 time digital zoom available in regular 8.1 megapixel cameras.

It has 2.4 inch display made from scratch resistant mineral glass, also the same size as the screen of most digital cameras. With the WiFi connectivity, it’s easier to upload photos to blogs and websites. It even supports TV output.

With the impressive camera features on board the C905, it’s easy to forget that it’s actually a phone. But the good things that we’ve all grown to love in a reliable multimedia phone are also in the C905.There’s FM radio, video recording and streaming, sound recording, video calling, web browsing and push email.

Further spicing up this phone is the HSDPA feature, GPS and geo tagging functions. This will be available sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.

I just hope this reaches the local market in time for the Christmas season. If that happens, the C905 undoubtedly will place high in the most wanted Christmas wish list.

My Sony Ericsson p910i - gmasked edition

Once Again, Thank you Gmask - Virramall Branch (Even if you guys didn’t accpet my gmask card for a free gmask sock)

I emailed gmask website admin about my blog and requested it to be posted in the gmask website. They explained why it can’t be posted because it contains complaints. I appreciated their quick response but after that one reply, they did not reply anymore. You know what I had in mind? to have my laptop gmasked. But now, I changed my mind. After hearing my complaint, they seem to not care anymore. They did not reply on why they are not accepting the “free gmask socks” card.

This is just a small rant. But I am not going to have my laptop gmasked just because you did not reply. Thanks for saving 5,000 pesos for me.

(I know 5,000 off your sales won’t scare you. I don’t care, I’ve said what I have to say and that is enough for me.)
- Vince

For my Blog visitors, check this out. Cool. Where can I buy this? :)
MyBook Essential Edition

*UPDATE!

I just received this e-mail from Eric Chao.

The reply was,

As for the FREE GMASK SOCK, this should be honored in any outlet of GMASK.  This is supposed to be used for your NEXT or FUTURE GMASK wrap.  We do this to reward customers for coming back and having their new gadget or other gadget gmasked as well.

Or some customers give it to friends to use also.

If any outlet does not honor this card, pls call our customer service number 0922-827-5055 so that our customer service agent will talk to the staff in the outlet.

Thank you for replying Sir Eric!

Third Installment - Do not buy H&K Battery! Made by H&K Telecom Technology Corp.

The image “http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb278/cheftonio1/hNkclear.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

I have taken several photos and this is one of the clearest I took. This will be my last warning. Just please, save yourself the trouble of buying this brand of battery.

They have mobile phone batteries for Nokia, Sony Ericsson and the likes. Yes, It is really cheap. Like 10% of the original battery cost, but, it will only work for three days.

You better let your judgement work.

You can request more detailed pics of the back, side top or bottom part if you like a more detailed look. Just post a comment.

Again, before buying gadgets or other stuffs, read review first! It won’t take 5 minutes.
