Even before Olympus released their shockproof/waterproof digital camera, I’ve been wanting one eons ago. Buying a waterproof hard plastic case for your digital camera is very expensive and some costs more than your unit itself.
Then, there is this summer where waterproof bags sprouted like mushrooms. Those gadget bags costs from 400 pesos to 2,000 pesos, depending on the brand and your power to haggle (in some stores).
This is my current target. The Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8. I just saw it in an international magazine and it costs around 21,000 pesos. Not bad, eh?
According to the site where I got the photo, “It has an 8MP CMOS sensor, new “face chaser” technology that even works underwater. It records in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 at up to 60 frames per second at a VGA resolution. You also get a 5x optical zoom so you can get close up to the things you really care about in a photo.”
