Sanyo has released a lot of innovative digital camcorders recently including the waterproof Sanyo Xacti Video Camera. I checked the prices a few weeks back and it was fairly prices. There were 2 models. The lower model would range from 17k to 18k pesos and the higher end would range from 22k to 23k pesos.

Now, they released another one. A Sanyo Xacti CA65.

It’s a HD video camera that is ultra portable!

I am considering of buying one myself this Christmas!

A computer virus was found in the laptops used by NASA Astronauts. According to AFP, ASA confirmed on Wednesday that a computer virus sneaked aboard the International Space Station only to be tossed into quarantine on July 25 by security software.

A “worm type” virus was found on laptop computers that astronauts use to send and receive email from the station by relaying messages through a mission control center in Texas, according to NASA spokesman Kelly Humphries.

The virus is reported to be malicious software that logs keystrokes in order to steal passwords or other sensitive data by sending the information to hackers via the Internet.

The laptop computers are not linked to any of the space station’s control systems or the Internet.

“The bottom line is it is a nuisance for us,” Humphries told AFP. “The crew is working with teams on the ground to eradicate the virus and look for actions to prevent that from happening in the future.”

The virus had no adverse effect on space station operations, according to Humphries.

The space station orbits Earth once every 90 minutes at an altitude of about 350 kilometers (217 miles).

NASA is reportedly looking into whether the virus got into the computers by hiding in a memory drive used to store music, video or other digital files.

MANILA, Philippines — France-based Havas Media is setting up a local office, foreseeing a growth in spending on digital advertising.

The company is opening Media Contacts Philippines through a joint venture with local online firm Yehey.com. Media Contacts is part of the Media Planning Group, the media division of Havas.

The local company will focus on digital advertising services, primarily for Web and mobile.

“The Philippine market is accelerating at a great pace. It is probably in the top 20 markets in the world in terms of potential spending,” said Vishnu Mohan, Havas Media’s Asia Pacific chief executive.

The company is counting largely on rising Internet usage in the country, forecasted to grow nearly 20 million in the next two years. Mohan expects companies to increase ad spending to three percent of total spending by 2010.

“Penetration will always be the primary driver,” he said in an interview. “We would like to spur the Web as an advertising medium but what is lacking right now is local content (on the Web).”

“Content will increase in time as companies explore the Web more as a medium,” he added.

Mohan is also counting on Yehey.com to help educate local companies. Yehey.com resells ad space for search engines Google and Yahoo.

Sony on Thursday unveiled a prototype digital camera shaped like a pizza cutter with a wheel that can be turned to generate enough power to take pictures.

 

The “Twirl N’ Take” camera generates enough electricity for one snap if the the wheel is moved for some 15 seconds, according to a Sony official.

A digital camera similar to those used in mobile phones is installed in a handle attached to the wheel, which is equipped with a power-generating device, she said.

Moving the wheel and taking pictures would appeal to children but the company has no immediate plan to commercialise it, she said.
