New Use of People Technology

The Internet. Most of us use this technology as a medium to do almost anything - buy, sell gather info, entertain ouselves, name it! It is very powerful that even big companies are compelled to act double time on complaints compared to written complaints.

I have here a clear cut example. A blog made by a particular user in multply, elaine10.multiply.com.

She complained about a particular fitness first trainer named Sam Santos of sexual harrasment, not in black and white (paper) but, using the power of the internet. To know the details about that complaint, just read elaine10’s blog. She posted that particular complaint in her blog April 6 and she got a response from Fitness First Eastwood in just one week without directly complaining there.

One week. Imagine, it is in the entire world wide web already that can be accessed throughout the globe using any device that has access to internet. Mobile phones, laptops, desktops, pda’s etc..! Yes. This is the new age. No wonder Yehey.com is doing so well right now.

They started small but now, they are an all-in-one multimedia-advertising-internet guru company which started from the Philippines. From placing internet ads in Yahoo, Google or wherever you like it. From website hosting, website design, flash banner ads creation. Whatever it is, as long as it is in the net, they have it! The world can see their distinct work. I was really amazed by some of their projects like the Chowking website, Experience Philippines website, Pantene / Olay / Nescafe SoundSkool and their two recent big time projects, the Trinoma Food Tour wherein they got bloggers to eat for free in partnership with Trinoma and the HappySlip Meet and Greet tour.

You know why the trinoma food tour was a big hit? Here are some C.S. reasons:

  • Bloggers/ Internet users get to eat for free - Who wouldn’t want to taste almost ALL the restaurants in Trinoma?
  • They even gave takehome goody bag - Trinoma Cinema Passes, Yehey 2008 Planner, Ayala Planner etc…
  • They get to expand their network - Bloggers/Media/HUMAN in particular like to interact with other humans.
  • Yes, aside from the 30-40 restaurants that you can taste for FREE, they even raffled of GC’s from restaurants and Yehey Bretas GC at the end of the day to those who joined. Talk about freebies galore! There is still such a thing as free in the world, you know.
  • Here is the part that companies would like to hear. Anything you write on the internet, good or bad, would be forever on the net except, when the author deletes the blog post or when the host deletes the post.

See? Do you know what the time frame of forever is? Can you imagine big companies spending millions on TV ads compared to giving a free meal for one day - in exchange for these ads?

Big companies, need to realize that TV ads, Newspaper ads, billboards or corporate websites alone are not sufficient to embrace this propelling and accelerating technology. They need to embrace it. Smell and Taste it… and swallow.

Some tips on how to embrace this booming medium almost everyone has access to.

1. Place ads in Yahoo, Google or wherever websites you want (Including Yehey, if you want.) If you are in the Philippines, call (02) 9106411 to inquire on these.
2. Make your websites attractive yet, professional.
3. If you cannot affod the most expensive ones (ad placements), go to google and search for “number one philippines serch engine” if your target is the Philippines. The top search engine listed there is usually the best place to put your bets into that it will click.
4. Who wants old promotions!? Try new ones!
Sample:

  • Online Press Conference
  • Chat Events
  • Meet and Greet Events
  • Food Tours
  • Product testing events

Basically, those are human interaction events wherein, the company will connect you with the right bloggers to “Blog” about your product. Be warned that, even though you are offering free food, giving away freebies etc… you will also get the chance to have a negative feedback because you can’t really “buy” bloggers to write ads for you. They write from their experiences.

For these kind of events, just call (02) 9106418 - Philippines.

iPhone mania…

“I really want to get the iPhone, but I need your help,” begs Omar Correa on his website, buymeaniphone.com, and who has now raised in $355 in donations.

Two weeks before it hits the market, innumerable websites have been launched to discuss the iPhone, with names like iphonefreak.com and everythingiphone.com.

They are already handing out advice on how to camp out in front of stores which will be selling the iPhone, to ensure you are one of the first to get one.

AT&T, which is the sole telecoms carrier authorized for the iPhone, told AFP that it will go on sale on June 29 at 6 p.m. in its 1,800 stores—an unusual hour which could lead to a rapid sellout.

Apple itself will sell the iPhone at its 170 Apple Stores. Other electronics and cell-phone sellers could end up waiting weeks to get a supply.

Neither the high price—$499 or $599, depending on the model—nor the obligation to subscribe to a two-year phone contract with AT&T has shown any sign of discouraging fans.

Just Google the word “iPhone”: it got 71.6 million mentions on Thursday across the web, up from 64.4 million one day earlier.

A website name with “iPhone” in it was even being offered on eBay for $125,000.

Even though they have only seen photographs of the iPhone, many online are already speculating about any discounts, or discussing how they plan to take a day off from work when it’s released. The smallest rumor spreads like wildfire.

Most are hardcore devotees, and they outnumber the online camp pledging to never to buy it.

But in recent days the skeptics have grown, with more targeted criticisms, focused on the iPhone’s lack of a physical keyboard—the user will have to tap out text messages or key in a phone number on the virtual keyboard on the touch screen.

This is one hell of a product. everyone there is waiting for it. I guess iPhone will have a part in the most searched word in the internet starting a few months back until a few months after release. i wonder when this phone will be released here in the Philippines? i will get one of these and il put a review here…

Microsoft surface blog

They revealed the microsoft surface -  a new gadget or computer that allows its user to use the touch screen and do a lot of things. This looks like a coffee table. Some of what it can do. put your mobile phone on top of it and send pictures by dragging the photo to your phone. note: from the touch screen lcd, there will be a cirlce encircling your phone. if you drag the image within that circle, it will send it to the phone.
/////
/////
/////
Simply by embedding any variety of wireless transceivers, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RFID, etc. it can sync instantly with any device that touches its surface. I wonder how long before Microsoft or a 3rd party develops some “virtual world” games for Microsoft Surface. It could also be used as an educational tool for youngsters. For instance, the table could say something like “Place the yellow triangle on the table” and then determine if the child correctly performed this task. I do have some skepticism that this will pass the WAF (wife acceptance factor). You really think she’ll want to swap out a nice wooden coffee table that coordinates with the rest of the room with some high-tech coffee table gadget? What about the power cord that will now snake across the floor unless you professionally install it under the rug? Nevertheless, all gadget lovers will salivate over this new piece of high-tech furniture gadgetry.

Nokia 9300i review

Just last saturday, i bought a new phone to change my old p910i. I bought a new Nokia 9300i. I will make my own review of it. I did not research before buying because this is the only phone i wanted until now and im not regreting it.
Phone Design:
- Very elegant dark colored communicator. Makes you feel like a real businessman in case you are not one.
- Small and compact compared to the Nokia 9500. Width of the P910i is more wider so this is better for me.
- Very user friendly keypad / qwerty keyboard design
Phone Features ( for more detailed features, check it out at www.yehey.com/gadgets )
- User friendly “enough” If you are used to using communicators like me (e.g. Nokia 9210, 9210i, 9300, and 9500),  this is basically the same. Ive owned all communicators except the oldest one, the Nokia 9110.
- If you know what 3rd party applications to install, everything is just one touch. (e.g. when i will sms my dad, i will just press “chr+d”, it will automatically create an empty sms message containing my dads number so all you have to do is type away your message and just send.
- Clear Lcd, good colors
- Loud enough earpiece/ speakers
- Not slow compared to P990i of Sony Ericsson
Whats not…?
- Slow webpage opening. i use my phones for browsing also you know. but what do you expect? this is not a laptop.
- No camera
- Quite larger than normal mobile phones but small enough in terms of communicators/pda phones.
Overall…
- A good switch from my previous phone, P910i. worth it at the side of low 5 digits.
Questions? feel free to post.
Tomorrow, i will write about my new M600i
