This news made my day!

I never knew such software existed. Summary, two computers, one stolen. The owner accessed another computer to activate the camera/ webcam feature. Clicks the camera and retrieves the photo of the said thief. Cool!

This is what Apple calls, back to my mac.

This is one of the latest news and technology made by Apple and it sure did become viral after arresting the two thieves who stole a laptop from an Apple employee in westchester county.

iPhone: Available in china

BEIJING - The iPhone can be bought in China, even though Apple Inc. isn't selling it there and the gadget doesn't function properly despite costing twice as much as in the United States.

Enthusiasts willing to pay 8,800 yuan ($1,170) can buy the iPhone at electronics markets in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, the computer and electronics newspaper Dian Nao Bao reported in its Monday editions.

In the United States, the combination cell phone-iPod media player can be had for as little as $499. The Chinese version can make calls and send text messages, but it can't receive calls. The voicemail function also doesn't work.

Apple is currently selling the iPhone only in the United States, where it's restricted to AT&T Inc.'s cellular network. Last month, hackers were successful in unlocking the device so that it could be used on other carriers.

Apple spokesman Natalie Kerris said Tuesday the company was not aware of specific reports of its phones being sold in China but said the sales were not authorized.

"We said we would launch the iPhone in Asia in 2008," she said. "This is not that launch."
Well, even before the iPhone was released in the US, dozens of cloned look alikes are spreading. As engadget and gizmodo showed their look alikes. now, they are in for the real thing. I wonder if Apple will release it in china if it will be released in asia in 2008...

iPhone 2nd version: Coming in Q4 of 2007?

While analysts have been speculating that Apple may unleash a smaller (and cheaper) handset in the not too distant future in order to grab a sect of market share not interested in the relatively pricey iPhone, the rumors are seeming to gain traction.
According to Kevin Chang, a JP Morgan analyst based in Taiwan, Apple is actually looking to "launch a cheaper version of the iPhone in the fourth quarter that could be based on its iPod nano music player."
The report cited anonymous sources "in the supply channel" and also referenced the now-famed patent that suggests such a device could be materializing.
Still, we'd highly recommend taking all of this in with a healthy heap of salt for the time being, but don't be incredibly shocked if your next iPod nano unexpectedly rings while you're stereotypically browsing through Gorillaz tracks.
