Sharp boasts its inch thick LCD. whats new there?

I found this somewhere…
Its half an inch thick! but wait… maybe there is something else on that inch thick thing…
this is from GMA news

Sharp showed a 29 millimeter (1.1 inches) thick prototype TV Wednesday the Japanese electronics maker said was the thinnest, lightest and lowest energy-consuming liquid crystal display in the world.

The 25 kilogram (55 pound) display, which has a tuner and other TV features encased in its panel, weighs about half of current LCD panel TVs and consumes about half their power, according to Sharp Corp. It consumes about a quarter of the energy of plasma display panel TVs, Sharp said.

At a Tokyo museum, Sharp demonstrated how the new panels could be easily hung on walls or placed on thin poles for an arty floating effect.

Oh! so thats whats not the same….<br>
Anyway, I already heard about the paper thin lcds? Am I correct? its not far from reality that, before 2010 ends, that paper thin will be made as huge as how huge you want it to be, will be in the making already.
