Instant Messaging system with webcam driven 3d avatars! new!

Yehey Tol
Its a new instant messaging software that allows you to communicate to other people in other parts of the world using yehey tol or yahoo messenger. It was created for Filipinos by Filipinos. This is supposed to make Pinoys abroad feel more at home because of the pinoy themes like the nice and simple, PS Bank theme, Simple lang.
It has pinoy avatars, has unique names for avatars and a unique buzz sound. In yahoo messenger, the buzz is “Buzz”, but here, it is “pssst huy!” so Filipino, right?
Soon, they will release their latest version, the one with the webcam driven 3d avatars, in which, even yahoo doesn’t have yet. You may ask why they created this webcam driven 3d avatars when its better to see face to face. I think, the answer to that is, some people are shy to use the webcam and they want to express their feelings thru facial expressions. this is their purpose,i think.
by the way, for some who doesn’t know what webcam driven 3d avatars is, iv’e read from their FAQ that, its like using a webcam, but having a mask on. when you wink, the character winks, make sad face, the character looks sad and etc.. from what i read, thats what i understood.
so, im pretty excited now to use that latest technology.

This is what you call a portable laptop

Imagine, laptops mostly 14″ weighs around 4kg and has a bag as big as a small suitcase. Thats a thing of the past.
Introducing, The new Asus Eee 701.
ASUS EEE 701
Small form, adept features

The overall dimension is small with only 22.5 x 16.5 x 2.13.5cm and very lightweight at only 0.89kg. Why so light? According to ASUS, the special solid-state disc design based on built-in flash-memory gives the EEE PC a great shock-proof advantage over traditional notebook PCs allowing extra flexibility and a worry free mobile computing experience.

The flash memory present in this laptop accounts for its very light weight. You might find it hard to settle with the 4GB version of this laptop if you’re so comfortable in having 200GB to 750GB worth of storage in your notebook or desktop PC. But the low flash drive memory assured ASUS the capacity of delivering a low cost laptop. Don’t fret; you can always add an external storage drive to the laptop.

The display is only 7 inches, decent enough if you’re only viewing web pages. The processor is provided by Intel mobile CPU and chipset. Users can choose from two operating systems - Linux and Microsoft Windows XP. But Linux is ASUS’ choice OS.

Connectivity features are impressive, with 10/100 Mbps Ethernet; 56K modem and WiFi 802.11b/g. Memory is 512MB, DDR2-400 and storage capacity ranges from 4, 8 and 16GB flash memory which accounts for the laptop’s very lightweight character at only 89 grams.

Word for the day: Net Cafe Refugees

Net Cafe Refuges refer to those new class of working poor who live in all-night lounges and are seen as a sign of a growing rich-poor gap.
The average salary of the “refugees” was 113,000 yen (983 dollars) per month — about equivalent to what a minimum-wage employee would earn in Tokyo if working 40 hours a week.
A five-hour stay at an Internet cafe in Tokyo costs about 3,000 yen with a meal served. Showers are available at 200 yen for 30 minutes and clean underwear is on sale.
It said some 80 percent of Japan’s “net cafe refugees” are men and that 52.7 percent said they decided to live in the lounges because they lost their jobs.
Another 13.8 percent said they moved into the net cafes because of deteriorating relationships with their families, according to the survey by the health and welfare ministry.

Sharp boasts its inch thick LCD. whats new there?

I found this somewhere…
Its half an inch thick! but wait… maybe there is something else on that inch thick thing…
this is from GMA news

Sharp showed a 29 millimeter (1.1 inches) thick prototype TV Wednesday the Japanese electronics maker said was the thinnest, lightest and lowest energy-consuming liquid crystal display in the world.

The 25 kilogram (55 pound) display, which has a tuner and other TV features encased in its panel, weighs about half of current LCD panel TVs and consumes about half their power, according to Sharp Corp. It consumes about a quarter of the energy of plasma display panel TVs, Sharp said.

At a Tokyo museum, Sharp demonstrated how the new panels could be easily hung on walls or placed on thin poles for an arty floating effect.

Oh! so thats whats not the same….<br>
Anyway, I already heard about the paper thin lcds? Am I correct? its not far from reality that, before 2010 ends, that paper thin will be made as huge as how huge you want it to be, will be in the making already.

Gadget articles, click me!!! no me!!! nah, its all the same…
Im not going to tell you whats in this link… but guys, maybe you’ll like this better than girls… come on… dont be shy :)

Speaker review: first hand with the Banshee 5.0 surround speakers

Specs and photos here….http://www.bansheeaudio.com/the411.html

Now, for my review.

Plus!

  • Nice design, no joke!

  • crisp clear sound

  • loud. I mean, I never expected it to sound this loud

  • yes, there is a surround sound effect

Minus?

  • There are some cracking/popping sound at times. but this is explained in their website. check out their website in the FAQ section

  • Longer than a Sony PSP

  • No battery powered option

  • Big adaptor

Finale…

  • Looks like or better compared to a JBL in terms of design

  • Kicks JBL’s ass in terms of price. (The JBL on tour costs around 7 to 8 thousand pesos, while this baby, costs around 6thousand pesos.) in my case, I sell them for only 3,500 pesos. (Im selling it at aDiscounted price and I buy wholesale)

  • Can fill the whole room with sound!

  • Surround Sound system in just one unit!
